Jerry grew up on a farm near a little town known as Dana, Indiana. Farm life planted the seed that began his love for machinery and eventually that translated from tractorsand trucks to airplanes. He began his career as a Corporate pilot at Marathon Oil Company in July of 1971. The privious years were spent as a flight instructor, airport assistant manager, and private piolt ground school instructor in a junior college in Robinson, Illionis. It was at the Crawford county airport in Robinson where I met many of Marathon's pilots and became aware of a position as pilot in Findlay with Marathon, which he accepted. I retired from Marathons flight department in December of 2007 after 36 1/2 years. After retirement he entered a 2-year course for a Masters in Family ministry degreee at Winebrenner Seminary. Moving closer to my Savior, Jesus, was the motivation to study the scriptures at Winebrenner. After graduation from Winebrenner, Jerry began doing pulpit supply at a small country church near Holgate, Ohio. He soon accepted a call to pastor that church, known as the Zion Church of God, in 2012. He retired from the position as Pastor in late 2018. He is currently the visitation pastor at Wharton Church of God with his lovely wife LuAnne at his side. They are excited to be apart of the ministry that is taking place here in Wharton.
